Jarrod Nathan Bailey

1975 - 2022

Posted

Jarrod Nathan Bailey was a caring husband, father, son, brother, uncle, “honey,” and friend.  He left us suddenly on December 29, 2022 at the age of 46.

He was born to Thomas and Donna Bailey on December 31, 1975.  He traveled the world with his military family.  After graduating high school in Florida, he went to Freed-Hardeman University where he earned a Bible degree and met the love of his life, Janet Kendall.  They were married July 18, 1998.  Together they had two boys: Jeremiah and Jonathan.

Jarrod was a Boy Scout, a soccer coach, and a converted Seminole-turned-Volunteer.  He loved being around people and thrived on laughter and jokes.  His first sip of coffee always required the exclamation, “Sweet nectar of heaven!”

Most of all, Jarrod loved the Lord’s church.  He served as youth minister at McKenzie Church of Christ for seventeen years.  He became the campus minister at UT-Martin in 2017 where he has continued to serve, lead, and leave a legacy.  He participated in mission work all over the globe.  He was an encourager and a servant-leader.

Jarrod is lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet of Martin, TN and sons Jeremiah and Jonathan; his parents Tom & Donna Bailey of Hope Houll, Alabama and David and Peggy Kendall of Rives, Tenn.; his grandfather Thomas R. Bailey of Wetumpka, Alabama;  siblings Tara (Christopher) Bailey Day, Jason (Heather) Kendall, Sam (Angel) Kendall, and Steve Kendell; nieces, nephews, family members and friends-like-family.  He was preceded in death by grandparents Virginia Bailey, and Robert and Ruthie Luster Schwartz.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Martin Church of Christ where he was a member. The service was officiated by some of Jarrod’s brothers-from-another-mother: Scott Bloodworth, Aaron Dodson, Martin Klamm, Joey Markham, Jon Morris, and Josh Walker. Pallbearers were Jeff Capps, Randy Delaney, Jason Kendall, Sam Kendall, Steve Kendall, Allen Pounds, Tucker Pounds, Ed Robison, and Corey Sawyers.  Burial was at East Side Cemetery in Martin.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home in Union City is in charge of the arrangements
