NEWPORT, Tenn. — Lane Harold Lusk, 21, of Newport, Tenn. died Tuesday, July 23, 2019 after a tragic car accident.
He was a 2015 graduate of West Carroll High School in Atwood and was valedictorian of his class.
He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and was finishing his registered nurse degree at Tennessee Wesleyan University, and was on the Dean’s list. He was a CNA at University of Tennessee Medical Center in the CVICU. Lane had previously chosen to be an organ donor, which helped several recipients to live more fulfilled lives.
He was born August 20, 1997.
He is survived by his mother and father, Lori (Matt) Ashley of Newport; brothers, Randy Lusk, Russel McDonald, Walker Ashley all of Newport; Riley Lusk of Brownsville, Tenn.; and sister, Morgan Simpson of Brownsville, Tenn.; grandparents, Mark and Kay McDonald of Atwood, Tenn., Ruth Edwards of Kentucky, Janet Ashley of Milan, Tenn.; great-grandparents, Bob McDonald of McKenzie, Tenn. and Ethyl Jackson of Kentucky; father, Josh (April) Lusk, of Brownsville, Tenn.; also other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Janie Gonzales McDonald and grandfather, Sammie Lusk.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Manes Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2019 with funeral services following at 12 p.m., with Joey Gowan officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
