HUNTINGDON (July 26) — After some animated discussion regarding Mayor Dale Kelley’s recommendation of Angela DeMaris to become executive director of the Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center, the council voted 4-3 to approve her for the position. DeMaris was serving as Director of Operations but had also been unofficially doing the theater director’s duties as well after Lori Nolen resigned. HUNTINGDON — Sixty-Five fishing teams from throughout the United States and one team from Canada descended on the Carroll County area for the Bassmaster Junior National Championship held at Lake Halford (1,000 Acre Lake) on Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30. more

Chick-fil-A celebrated its ten-year anniversary July 19 with a little help from Sweet Jordan’s and the Snack Shack food trucks parked outside of Bethel University’s Vera Low Center. The celebration was from noon until 5 p.m.  more

The Farmers Market Tomato Festival was a great success, bringing in over 340 customers. Lots of early shoppers purchased the bushels of beautiful ripe tomatoes, which did not last long. Customers sampled and bought great salsa and tasted and received recipes for savory tomato pie and a tomato salad. Our fun “tomato splat balls” were a big hit with our children visiting the market. more
