Martin, and son-in-law, Jason R. Martin at the law offices of Washburn and Hutcherson in Dresden, Tenn. more
It’s time for Shavonya’s Third Annual Fashion Show with live entertainment, vendors, door prizes, and food trucks. Garments designed by Shavonya Porter with two special guests. The event is on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Carroll County Civic Center, 201 Mustang Drive (Fairgrounds Rd), Huntingdon, TN 38344. Vendors open at noon and the fashion show starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 admission at the door. Kids 5 and under admission is free. Friday, September 8, 2023, was a great day for the annual Dr. Jerry Atkins Habitat for Humanity Golf Scramble. With blue skies and a light breeze the weather was perfect for a golf game. Eleven teams enjoyed a day of golf with all the proceeds going to Habitat. Upon arrival the participants were checked in, given a goodie bag, and received a meal from Chick-fil-A. A little before noon Michelle Sanders welcomed the participants and Mrs. Paula Atkins thanked everyone for coming. Drawings were held for sleeves of golf balls for door prizes. Before the participants left to go to their beginning holes, Brooks Jackson, youth minister at the Huntingdon church of Christ, prayed for the players and the work of Habitat. more
HUNTINGDON (September 23) — The 30th annual Huntingdon Heritage Festival was the best attended ever, according to festival organizers. Perfect weather and outstanding music talent highlighted the annual festival on the court square in Huntingdon. more

Bethel University along with the Carroll County Government and the Town of Huntingdon agreed to enter into an education partnership. In this agreement, Bethel University will extend a reduced tuition rate to both governments’ employees enrolling in Bethel’s on-line degree programs. This would include undergraduate degrees, graduate criminal justice tuition, and graduate business tuition. Bethel is also extending the benefit of a waived application fee to the employees applying to any of these programs. more

HUNTINGDON (September 9) — The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life fund-raising event was held Saturday after a three-year absence due to the COVID pandemic. The scaled-down event was a good start to reinvigorate the event that once raised significant funds for the eradication of cancer. more
