McKENZIE (March 4) — Bethel University’s Board of Trustees has selected Perry Moulds, Ph.D., to serve as the university’s president, effective July 1, 2024. more
ATWOOD (October 5) — Members of the West Carroll Special School District Board of Education moved through its monthly meeting by reaffirming its COVID policy and announcing the school now has two Student Resource Officers (SROs) in addition to the school’s Student Safety Officers. more
MEMPHIS (October 23) — The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s College of Nursing has received a $364,502 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that will allow a specialized education outreach to health care professionals in the Mid-South Delta region to improve care for patients with sickle cell disease. more
The McKenzie Elementary School celebrated the end of their 4th nine-weeks of school by honoring students with high or improving grades. The school released the names of students who made the Honor and Merit Rolls and the recipients of the individual Principal’s P.R.I.D.E. Reading, Principal’s P.R.I.D.E. Math, B.U.G. (Bringing Up Grades) and Citizenship awards. more
McKENZIE (June 7) — A new multi-purpose building and pay raises for teachers and other staff are represented in the proposed 2022-23 fiscal year budget of the McKenzie Special School District (MSSD). The local Board of Education convened in a budget workshop to discuss the details of the proposed $15.97 million budget. more
Nathan Crenshaw, an Information Technology Systems Management student at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in McKenzie recently received his CompTIA Network+ certification. He also received his IT Operations certification for having his CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications. more
Eric Flores, of Henry, and Ashton Parsley, of McKenzie, recently earned certifications in information technology systems. more

MARTIN — The University of Tennessee at Martin recently honored the academic achievements of undergraduate students with the publication of the Spring 2023 Chancellor’s Honor Rolls for the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, College of Business and Global Affairs, College of Education, Health and Behavioral Sciences, College of Engineering and Natural Sciences and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts. more
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) hosted its second annual Tech Discovery Camp for rising eighth graders May 22-26 for Bruceton and Clarksburg students and May 30-June 2 for McKenzie students. The camp was introduced last summer as a way to introduce students to technical career options. more
HUNTINGDON (September 1) — As part of its annual Homecoming tradition, Huntingdon High School crowned a student as its queen. more
McKENZIE (October 6) — Belle O’Brien is the 2023 MHS Football Homecoming Queen. She was crowned during pre-game ceremonies at Rebel Stadium on October 6. The candidates all entered the stadium in a convertible driven by Steven Berryman. more
In April, seven students from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology–McKenzie were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. more
Huntingdon Middle School announces the students who made Honor Roll the 3rd quarter of school. Principal’s Honor Roll includes students who made all A’s and Honor Roll includes students who made all A’s and B’s. more
Susan Dyer, a teacher at McKenzie High School in Carroll County, took part in the “Humanity of Leadership” program on Sept. 27 as part of the WestStar Leadership Program’s WestTeach Program. Participants in the WestTeach Program are K-12 teachers who are nominated by their principal who aspire to remain in the classroom but want to be a leader in their school and community. more
