On Wednesday, February 22, McKenzie Middle School held an African-American History Program. Sixteen students presented information about African American’s contributions to the past and present. The focus of the event was the accomplishments of: Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Dr. King, Maya Angelou, Madame C.J. Walker, Robert F. Smith, Bobby Marshall, Fritz Pollard, Bobby Marshall, Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, and the recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Rap. more
The State Review Board of the Tennessee Historical Commission is meeting Wednesday, January 24, to discuss eight sites from across the state that may be placed on The National Register of Historic Places. Of those eight nominees, McKenzie’s historic Webb School is one of those to be discussed. more

GUATEMALA CITY — Six Bethel University students helped ensure Guatemalan children had healthy smiles March 5-11 as part of a Global Studies collaboration with Cumberland Presbyterian missionaries. Led by Stacie Freeman, director of Bethel’s international outreach, and fellow co-founder of a new nonprofit for student-staffed travel service projects, Julie Hill, the trip included a mix of compassionate ministry and culture-sharing. more

ATWOOD (November 2) — The West Carroll Special School District held its monthly meeting last Thursday night at the high school, swiftly going through the agenda that included recognition for Ms. Ruby Hunt, who is retiring. more
This year McKenzie Elementary School celebrated the spirit of giving by creating care packages for local nursing homes. The students made cards and helped to create care packages as a way of learning how to give back to others. more
McKENZIE — Wednesday, December 20 is the date set for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - McKenzie Class of 2023 Fall Graduation. Commencement exercises begin at 1 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16835 Highland Drive, McKenzie. The keynote speaker is Mr. Joe Norval, principal and CTE director of the Carroll County Technical Center. more

CARROLL COUNTY (April 3) — Twelve high school seniors from Carroll County were recognized by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce for their academic excellence by scoring a 29 or better on the national ACT test. The Carroll County Chamber hosted a luncheon on April 3 at Mallard’s Restaurant to honor these students. more
NASHVILLE (June 15) — The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) is thrilled to announce the release of the college-going rate for the Class of 2022. The data for the Class of 2022 showcases a one and a half percentage point increase over the class of 2021, for a statewide college-going rate of 54.3%. This represents the largest statewide increase since the implementation of Tennessee Promise in 2015. more
