COSTA RICA — Students from Bruceton, Huntingdon, Camden and Memphis discovered that summer means rainy season in steamy tropical Costa Rica. But armed with serving hearts and good senses of humor, participants in the latest Global Citizen Adventure Corps program overcame the weather, interacted with children who needed their attention, erected fencing and secured habitats for animals needing protection, and even squeezed in a lesson in softball. more
McKENZIE (June 25) — Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll hosted a groundbreaking for its new academic and administrative building on June 25 at the McKenzie campus. more
McKENZIE — New decorative lighting is now completely installed in downtown McKenzie. Associates of Wade Electric Company installed the final lighting fixtures last week in Veterans Park. Additional lighting was placed on Broadway, Lee, and Waldren streets in downtown. The lighting project was first proposed in 2018 and was part of the Broadway sidewalk replacement project approved during the Jill Holland administration. The new decorative lighting replaces lights installed in the 1980s during the Mayor Joe Morris’ administration when the downtown gazebo was constructed, in part, by masonry students at the McKenzie TCAT. more

McKENZIE (June 24) — Contractors erected the Christian cross at Bethel University’s new chapel on Monday, June 24. The $4.2 million multi-level project has a seating capacity of 1,058. The finished height of the building should measure approximately 487 feet. It is currently under construction on the McKenzie campus. more
McKENZIE (June 20) — Willie Huffman was honored for his 36 years of service at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology on the McKenzie campus on Thursday, June 20. more
McKENZIE (June 12) — The City of McKenzie’s Park and Recreation Board met Wednesday to discuss building a soccer complex at Mulberry Park. Members of the McKenzie Soccer League were in attendance in hopes of encouraging the board to reconsider building the complex at Mulberry. more

McKENZIE — Webb Alumni are celebrating a major milestone in the history of the former school for African-American students. On May 31, the school building was approved for the National Register of Historic Places. more
