Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 5.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.34/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 7.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 10.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 0.9 cents in the last week and stands at $4.426 per gallon.

The year was 1982 and I had just been elected District Attorney. One of the counties in my district was my home county of Carroll. I was in the court house for some reason or another when I was a approached by a very nice and polite young lady. She said she was from one of the schools in the western part of the county and that they would be holding a womanless beauty review soon and she wanted me to be in it. Womanless beauty reviews were common in those days and politicians and other men who were considered of some prominence were recruited to participate.

NASHVILLE (August 29) — Governor Bill Lee, during a special session of the Tennessee Legislature, had four of his proposed bills pass in both chambers. Part of the legislation appropriates more than $100 million in public safety funding. According to Governor Lee’s office, he presented “legislative and budget priorities during the public safety special session to keep Tennessee communities safe, support law enforcement and address mental health, all while preserving constitutional rights.”
