TENNESSEE (May 20) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 9.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.12/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 9.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 1.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 3.3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.86 per gallon.

State game wardens cannot enter private property in Tennessee without a warrant, the state’s Court of Appeals ruled last week. The case was originally heard in Circuit Court, 24th Judicial District, by Judge Donald Parish, now retired. Parish ruled TWRA did not have such broad authority.

McKENZIE (May 14) — Members of the Rotary Club of McKenzie heard from Bethel University’s Global Studies program. Stacie Freeman, leader of Bethel University Global Studies, was the featured speaker. She thanked the club members for donating supplies for a service/learning trip to Guatemala, where Bethel students and community members, worked in elementary schools in Guatemala City. Travelers also visited Lake Atitlan, Antiqua, and San Juan.

McKENZIE (May 6) — On Tuesday, Carroll County Mayor Joseph Butler delivered a State of the County Address to the McKenzie Rotary Club. Butler explained that Carroll County is in good financial shape and is in the final stages of preparation for presenting the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget. Butler was elected as Carroll County Mayor in 2018.

The Inglenook Book Club met for its monthly meeting on May 8 at 3 p.m. at Lakeside, with 19 members in attendance. President Gail Mack was absent so vice-president Shirley Martin called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance, club aim and club motto was recited by all. Thank you to hostesses Gayron Lyles and Beverly Mueller for the great cheese cracker assortment and grape salad along with assorted beverages that were served.
