DRESDEN (February 27) — Dresden High School hosted West Carroll Friday night to open the Region 7-1A Girls Basketball Tournament. The Lady War Eagles kept the game close, trailing by just four entering the final frame, but the Lady Lions held on for a 45-36 win. The loss ends the season for West Carroll.

LINDEN (February 27) —- The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels advanced to the semifinals of the Region 6-1A Girls Basketball Tournament with a 59-32 opening-round win at Perry County. The Lady Rebels would face McEwen Monday night after The Banner's press deadline. The winner advanced to the region championship on Wednesday and is guaranteed a sectional appearance. A loss means the end of the season.

WAYNESBORO (February 27) — The Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers and Tigers traveled to Wayne County High School Friday for quarterfinals in their respective Region 6-1A Basketball tournaments. The host Lady Wildcats pulled away early for a 60-30 win, and the Wildcats followed suit for a 77-32 victory. The losses ended the season for both Central teams.

LINDEN (February 28) —- Perry County High School hosted Clarksburg Saturday to open the Region 6-1A Boys Basketball Tournament. The Rockets trailed by just two points at the half, but the Vikings pulled away in the third for a 49-36 win. The loss ends Clarksburg’s season.

McKENZIE (February 23) — The District 14-1A Boys Basketball Tournament concluded Monday at Bethel University's Crisp Arena. In the championship game, the Gleason Bulldogs fell behind early to Lake County but climbed back to trail by just a point after three quarters. The Falcons held on in the fourth to claim a 53-50 win and the district title.

McEWEN (February 23) — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels finished third in the District 12-1A Girls Basketball Tournament with a 43-34 win over Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central in Monday's consolation game at McEwen High School. Both teams will open region play on the road Friday at 7 p.m. McKenzie will travel to Perry County, while Central goes to Wayne County.

Greenfield claimed first, Dresden second place, Lake County placed third, and Gleason placed fourth.
