McKENZIE (July 2) — Carroll County Fire Department District 12 located at 565 Hico Road, McKenzie, lost approximately $500,000 worth of firefighting equipment and the building during a 11 p.m. fire on July 2. A lightning strike at 7:30 to 8 p.m. was the cause, according to an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. more

McKENZIE — This June, the Carroll County Humane Society began renovations, the first major changes made since moving into the building on Hwy 22 nine years ago. The remodel originally targeted replacing the floors, but it has since expanded to upgrading the dog kennels and repainting and adding new shelving in the cat rooms. more

Miss Tennessee was someone she could look up to and someone who made her feel seen. HUNTINGDON (June 29) — Effective October 1, ratepayers of Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) will experience a slight increase in electric rates. This is the first rate increase since 2018, according to Ryan Drewry, general manager of CCED. more
