HUNTINGDON (July 7) — McKenzie City Attorney Laura Keeton filed a complaint with the Carroll County Election Commission concerning the candidacy of Joshua Wheat Filtz for mayor of the city. The complaint was officially filed on July 7 on behalf of the citizens of McKenzie. more
The early voting period for the August 4 State and Federal Primary and State and County General Election is July 15-30. The voter registration deadline was July 5. The absentee deadline is July 28. more
Hunter Shields, a 23 year old student at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Paris, became the national champion in Motorcycle Service Technology, winning the Gold Medal at the 2022 National SkillsUSA Competitions. The national skilled trades championships, held in Atlanta, were June 21-23. more
The Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce partnered with Nance Productions, owned and operated by Cody and Korie Nance, to host the second-annual 2022 Allegro Marinade’s Professional Bull Racing (PBR) event July 1 and 2 at the Henry County Fairgrounds in Paris. In addition to Allegro Marinade being the title sponsor, Chris Dowdy of Mossey Oak Properties presented the competition. more
Mr. Jamie Smith of Smith and Sons Heating/Air received a special award earlier this year from the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) at McKenzie. Mr. Smith very graciously worked with students in the HVAC program while a search for an instructor was underway. Students were able to receive on-site training while working with the Smiths. more
The McKenzie Shooting Team worked hard last week in extreme 100-degree heat at the SCTP State Championship. Several shooters including rookies did well as the team won their first shoot-off as a team. more
Three McKenzie Rebels were named to the Class A All-State Team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA). more
Just a few short years ago, Sadarius Hutcherson was playing high school football and basketball for the Huntingdon Mustangs. He played on the interior line as well as tight end and defensive end. By his senior year, he was considered a 3-star defensive end prospect by 247 Sports and was being noticed by several schools. Sadarius eventually signed with South Carolina in February 2016 where he saw action for three and a half seasons. more
