MEMPHIS (November 11) — Huntingdon hit the road to Memphis Fairley for round two of the state playoffs after defeating Memphis Mitchell in round one. The Mustangs took care of business on a chilly night in South Memphis eliminating the Fairley Bulldogs 48-6 and advancing to the third round on Friday.

HUNTINGDON — The Huntingdon Mustangs wasted no time establishing they belonged in the playoffs scoring four touchdowns in the opening frame and added three more in the second quarter racking up 50 first half points against Memphis Mitchell and won the contest 50-12.

UNION CITY (October 28) — The Huntingdon Mustangs picked up a huge Region 7-2A win Friday night against the Union City Golden Tornadoes. The 27-20 victory put the Mustangs in second play in the region behind Westview with both teams hosting the first of the TSSAA playoffs.

Huntingdon’s Cross Country team competed well in the regional cross country meet held Tuesday, October 25, at Martin Westview. Quinn Kelley and Colton King medaled in their respective races with King qualifying for the State Cross Country meet in Hendersonville Thursday and Friday, November 3 and 4.

TRENTON — The Huntingdon Mustangs made the trip into Gibson County for a rematch with Trenton. Last year when Trenton came to Huntingdon, the Mustangs snapped their 44-game win streak in convincing fashion.

The Class A State Bracket is starting to clear up as the end of the regular season nears. The TSSAA football bracket alternates each year on purpose. The region winner automatically gets the first two playoff games at home. The region runner-up gets the first game at home and the next game on the road. The third and fourth rounds alternate each year.

MEMPHIS — McKenzie’s Lady Rebel Soccer team made the trip to Memphis to play Sheffield in the Region Semifinals and came away with a 3-2 victory. Allie Walker, Hannah Lee, and Anna Claire Patel scored goals while goalie Katie Chesser recorded 6 saves during the game.

HUNTINGDON (October 11) — Huntingdon Senior Kyleigh Carter, #30, on the Huntingdon Girls Soccer Team, scored her 30th goal of the season in Tuesday night’s 7-1 win over Peabody. Carter had four goals in the District Semifinal match.
