ATWOOD (July 5) — National Beta members from West Carroll Elementary and West Carroll Junior Senior High school worked over the last few months to prepare for the National Beta Convention. This summer, the two schools amassed sixteen national placements. more
MARTIN — Several Carroll County students received degrees from the University of Tennessee at Martin during spring commencement ceremonies May 6 and 7, 2022. UT Martin hosted three in-person commencements to promote safety for graduates and their families while recognizing the class of spring 2022’s accomplishments. Each commencement was live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube for those unable to attend. more
All three McKenzie schools will host new student registration July 19, 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Each school’s administration requires specific documents from new students during registration. more
HENDERSON (June 29) — Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) has released the names of students who made the President’s and Dean’s Lists for the spring 2022 semester. more
The Bethel University Renaissance program recently announced move-in dates for all incoming freshmen and returning students in the program. Also announced were Renaissance Theatre’s fall 2022 and spring 2023 productions. more
MARTIN (June 27) — Cindy West, dean of the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tennessee at Martin, received one of seven President’s Awards presented to faculty and staff members throughout the UT system. more
Brian Hicks recently received his CompTIA A+ certification, the industry standard for launching IT careers in today’s digital works. It appears in more tech support job listings than any other IT credential. more
Although it seems like summer break just began for students and educators in McKenzie, the McKenzie Special School District has released the new calendar for the 2022-23 school year. more
The McKenzie Elementary School released the 2022-23 kindergarten through fourth grade school supply lists on June 15. more
SkillsUSA held the National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) in Atlanta, Georgia during the week of June 20-24, 2022. Paul Prescott of McKenzie, Tennessee competed in the SkillsUSA Nationals and brought home the silver medal in the CNC Milling Contest. more
During McKenzie Middle School’s annual Bridge Camp, students worked to invent new and innovative product plans to present to a group of influential business people in McKenzie. McKenzie Middle School’s Bridge Camp is a summer learning camp created to help students reach benchmarks before advancing to the next grade in August. more
McKenzie High School Class of 1972 recently held its 50-year reunion at Chandler’s Barn in McKenzie where a catered dinner, old times and fond memories greeted classmates. Stories from yesteryear helped rekindle friendships and the class had a pictorial tribute during the dinner honoring 24 deceased classmates. more
Nine days after the demotion of former Director of Schools Lex Suite in a June 9 school board meeting, the South Carroll Special School District School Board announced Lisa Norris of McKenzie will take the newly-vacant position. more
The Tennessee Valley Association of REALTORS® awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Nate Ricketts on June 15, 2022. Ricketts is a 2022 graduate of Huntington High School and will attend University of Tennessee at Martin in the fall. He is the son of Tonya and Donald (Bud) Ricketts, Jr. more
KNOXVILLE (June 14- 17) — 4-H Academic Conference is a 4-H STEM event held on the campus of UT Knoxville every summer. Students from all over the state of Tennessee submit applications and are selected to attend the conference, based on their project work. The purpose of 4-H Academic Conference is to recognize outstanding 4-Hers who are actively involved in various projects, provide academic training related to the 4-Hers project areas, meet other 4-Hers from across the state, and experience life on a college campus. more
