McKENZIE (August 25) — The McKenzie Chamber of Commerce and Industry held its annual golf tournament at Carroll Lake Friday morning. Despite a heat index of nearly 115 degrees, the Chamber hosted a full slate of teams. Winning teams sponsored by John Austin (First Place, 52), Joseph Butler (Second Place, 52) and Dynamic Physical Therapy (Third Pace, 56) were awarded trophies provided by Tri-County Publishing, Inc. more
McKenzie (August 26) — A Saturday afternoon thunderstorm with heavy rain and high winds shortened the annual Sweet Tea Festival in downtown McKenzie. The rains sent arts and crafts and food vendors scurrying for shelter and caused the cancellation of the music acts for Saturday evening. more

NASHVILLE — Tennessee made history in July when the state recorded its lowest unemployment rate since the federal government began tracking the statistic in 1976. According to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD), the seasonally adjusted rate of 3.1% was 0.1 of a percentage point lower than the previous all-time low of 3.2%, a figure the state once again reached in June. more
