McKenzie — There are exciting things happening at the Farmers Market this Saturday. We start celebrating the Sweet Tea and Southern Pickin’s Festival with free sweet tea for all our customers. Children are encouraged to build their own race cars this week out of vegetables and fruit and  enter the 4-H Veggie Derby Race. We will also have Susie’s Petting Zoo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. After the market, stroll down to the Red Caboose to cool on a variety of water slides. more

Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have fallen 10.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.99 per gallon today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 28.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 44.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 7.7 cents in the last week and stands at $4.38 per gallon. more

Inglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting on October 11, 2023, at 3 p.m., at Lakeside Senior Living Community, McKenzie. There were 16 members in attendance. President Moore called the meeting to order, and thanked her co-hostess, Victoria Ard for assisting her serving delicious carrot cake and chocolate cake, along with candy corn/peanut medley, and assorted beverages. The Pledge of Allegiance, Club Aim and Club Motto were recited by all. We had two guests present at the meeting-relative to member Jean McKinnie, and our local librarian-Ceil Pomphrey, who spoke to the group. Thank you was extended to telephone chair, Victoria Ard, for her calling to all members reminding about the meeting. more
NASHVILLE (January 29) — The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is announcing its participation in the 2024 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The goal of the Summer Food Service Program is to ensure children 18 and younger, who benefit from meal programs at school, continue to have that same access to nutritious meals outside of school. more
