The Inglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting on September 14, 2022, at the Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie with 18 members in attendance. Hostesses were Sally Sutton and Beverly Mueller. President Moore introduced our guest speakers, Beckie Smith and Courtney Kee from McKenzie Elementary School and talked about the backpack program, school donations and the food program. They expressed appreciation for the monthly school item donations and gave several new ideas and suggestions for future donations. more

GUATEMALA CITY — Six Bethel University students helped ensure Guatemalan children had healthy smiles March 5-11 as part of a Global Studies collaboration with Cumberland Presbyterian missionaries. Led by Stacie Freeman, director of Bethel’s international outreach, and fellow co-founder of a new nonprofit for student-staffed travel service projects, Julie Hill, the trip included a mix of compassionate ministry and culture-sharing. more

McKENZIE (January 8) — McKenzie Special School District Board of Education held a special board meeting and voted against the Educational Freedom Scholarship Act as proposed by Governor Bill Lee. more

McKENZIE — Children in Honduras and other countries will soon be blessed from other donations of toys, items for personal hygiene, clothing, school supplies, and candy - all packed in individual shoebox-size cardboard boxes. It part of the Making a Godly Impact (MAGI) to send Christmas gifts to children, who otherwise have no little to no gifts at Christmas. more

This year McKenzie Elementary School celebrated the spirit of giving by creating care packages for local nursing homes. The students made cards and helped to create care packages as a way of learning how to give back to others. more
McKENZIE (April 1) — McKenzie Band held its annual beauty revues for students in McKenzie Special School District. The competition included competition in six categories. The event was in the McKenzie High School Theatre. The winners ranged in age from 4 to 18 and are pictured. more
McKENZIE — Drew Chappell and Savannah Davis were chosen as McKenzie High School’s Wendy’s Heisman candidates. Both Chappell and Davis are seniors at MHS. more
McKENZIE — Wednesday, December 20 is the date set for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - McKenzie Class of 2023 Fall Graduation. Commencement exercises begin at 1 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16835 Highland Drive, McKenzie. The keynote speaker is Mr. Joe Norval, principal and CTE director of the Carroll County Technical Center. more

McKENZIE (December 5) — Carroll, Henry, and Benton counties are home to subterranean titanium, according to officials with IperionX. The publicly listed company is betting on the future of titanium mining in the northwest Tennessee communities to provide a lightweight, but strong metal for uses as aircraft, military vehicles, and even metal shields for EV batteries on automobiles. more
