The Tennessee Department of Education released scores from the spring English/language arts (ELA) TCAP assessment Wednesday, May 25, revealing that more than half of Tennessee’s third-grade students are not meeting proficiency in the subject. While some area schools have higher proficiency percentages than the statewide average, McKenzie, Hollow-Rock/Bruceton, Milan and West Carroll special school districts have found their percentages below the state average. more

McKENZIE — Construction for a new multi-purpose sports and physical education facility began December 1 at McKenzie High School. Immediately as the MHS football team departed the school en route to Chattanooga for the championship game, earth-moving equipment excavated the football practice field and started construction of a new multi-purpose building. more
McKENZIE (April 18) — Dr. Justin Barden is the new director of schools for the McKenzie Special School District. Barden is a Jackson native and Jackson Central Merry graduate (1999). more

PARIS (March 28) — Jeremy Pate was honored for 25 years of safe driving with United Parcel Service during a brief ceremony at the Paris Tennessee distribution center. Pate, a McKenzie resident, his wife Gina, and girls, Emma, Sydney and Lydia were in attendance. more
