McKenzie (August 26) — A Saturday afternoon thunderstorm with heavy rain and high winds shortened the annual Sweet Tea Festival in downtown McKenzie. The rains sent arts and crafts and food vendors scurrying for shelter and caused the cancellation of the music acts for Saturday evening. more
A Nashville judge ruled Tuesday that the expenses related to harassment of a 19-year-old legislative intern by then-state lawmaker Scotty Campbell are exempt from the public records law based on a House rule and a policy on workplace harassment. Journalists have found that at least $8,800 was spent to house and move the intern, but it’s unclear if additional payments were made. more

NASHVILLE (December 2023) — A long-range study authorized by the State of Tennessee indicates Amtrak could have a new route through West Tennessee including Carroll County and eventually connect Memphis, Nashville and Chattanooga in Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia.
