McKENZIE (July 17) — Soon, the mobile home park located on Forrest Avenue in McKenzie could cease to exist. During the monthly meeting of the McKenzie City Council, the board approved (on the first reading) Ordinance 554 to amend the mobile home park property from R-4 (residential mobile home) to R-3 (high-density residential). This allows the owners to develop the property for the construction of “townhouses.”

McKENZIE (July 2) — Carroll County Fire Department District 12 located at 565 Hico Road, McKenzie, lost approximately $500,000 worth of firefighting equipment and the building during a 11 p.m. fire on July 2. A lightning strike at 7:30 to 8 p.m. was the cause, according to an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
