CARROLL COUNTY — Local 4-H agent Amanda Paschall received the Achievement in Service Award at the State Tennessee Association of 4-H Extension workers held at Pickwick Landing on May 3-5. more
The McKenzie Station Splash Pad reopens Saturday, May 28. The splash pad, located at 91 East Bruce Street beside McKenzie’s historic railroad depot, operates from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. more
Gleason High School held its 2022 commencement activities on Friday, May 20, in the school’s gymnasium. Twenty-seven seniors graduated with Cameron Thompson as valedictorian, Grace Marie Long as salutatorian and Hannah Grace Stafford as class president. more
In the coming months, the parks and recreations of McKenzie will undergo a series of planned improvements. Expected improvements are to include but are not limited to a three field soccer complex with a concession stand and restrooms and a parking lot. more
HUNTINGDON (May 19) — During Thursday’s meeting of the Carroll County Electric Department Board, Financial Officer Ryan Drewry was selected unanimously as incoming general manager. The current general manager, Danny Brawner, will retire on June 2. more
Wow what a year! McKenzie High has sent six different sports teams to the State Tournaments this year. This is a historical first for MHS athletes reaching the state level so many times during the same school year. more
Region Semifinal West Carroll The McKenzie Rebels jumped out to a 6-0 lead on five hits in the bottom of the first inning after holding West Carroll scoreless in the top of the first. more
McKenzie’s Soccer Rebels played host to Memphis East for a shot at the State Soccer Tournament on Saturday, May 21 at Bethel University. more
Jake McDaniel, a senior at McKenzie High School, signed to play baseball at Bethel University. The signing ceremony was at the conclusion of the McKenzie-West Carroll game in McKenzie. He was joined by his fellow Rebels, coaches and family. more
The McKenzie Lady Rebels played host to the Lady War Eagles and Lady Tigers in the Region 6A Tournament on Monday, May 16 and Wednesday, May 18 before facing Huntland in the TSSAA Sectionals on Friday, May 20. more
Region Semifinal After winning the District Title, the Soccer Rebels kept the mojo going into the Regionals with a convincing 7-0 win over Memphis School of Excellence in the Region Semifinals on Tuesday May 17. more
More than 50 volunteers came together Saturday, May 7, to hold a Mobile Pantry at the Carroll County Library in Huntingdon, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Sponsored by Centennial Bank of Carroll County, the event provided 16,000 pounds of fresh produce and shelf-stable goods to more than 275 local families. Each household also received bouquets of fresh flowers to share with loved ones for Mother’s Day. more
The McKenzie Rotary Club hosted St. John siblings Jordan and Jessica of Sweet Jordan’s in Paris, Tennessee. Jordan better known as Sweet Jordan or Papa Jordan to company teammates, along with other family members will soon be opening their second location in McKenzie. Jessica informed club members that in an estimated five weeks they will be ready to open the McKenzie building located in the Highland Plaza. more

McKENZIE (May 11) — After over seven months, the council position representing ward two has been filled. In the Thursday evening meeting, Mayor Jill Holland nominated and the Council approved the appointment of Steve Watson to the vacant seat. Watson fills the seat held by Jason R. Martin who moved from McKenzie City Limits and is currently running for Carroll County Commission for District 9. more
CARROLL COUNTY — The five special school districts in Carroll County held commencement exercises last week and issued 284 diplomas. more
McKenzie (May 10) — The first of up to five roadside signs was unveiled on Tuesday, May 10, along State Route 22 near Carroll Lake. McKenzie Lady Rebels are the Class 1A TSSAA state basketball champions. Dani Dyer, the lone senior member, had the honor of unveiling the sign by removing the plastic covering. more
