NASHVILLE — For the second year in a row, a McKenzie Rebel has been nominated for Class A’s Mr. Football Award. Last year, it was junior running back Marquez Taylor and this year it is senior quarterback Jackson Cassidy.

McKenzie (November 4) — McKenzie Rebels defeated Wayne County 63-0 in the first round of the Class 1A football playoffs at Rebel Stadium on November 4. Next up is Moore County (9-1), Region 5 at Rebel Stadium on Friday, November 11, Veterans Day, 7 p.m.

McKenzie Middle School basketball tipped off November hosting West Carroll Junior High on Tuesday, November 1. The Lady War Eagles drained a three-pointer to take an early lead and maintained a slim 1-2 point lead throughout the first period until McKenzie hit a basket taking an 11-10 lead just seconds before the end of the first period.

McEWEN — McKenzie’s Rebels made the trip into Middle Tennessee to face McEwen in the final regional and regular contest of the season. The Rebels ran into a loud crowd and suspect officiating, but still were able to take care of business winning 21-6 and finishing their second straight regular season without a loss.

The Class A State Bracket is starting to clear up as the end of the regular season nears. The TSSAA football bracket alternates each year on purpose. The region winner automatically gets the first two playoff games at home. The region runner-up gets the first game at home and the next game on the road. The third and fourth rounds alternate each year.

MEMPHIS — McKenzie’s Lady Rebel Soccer team made the trip to Memphis to play Sheffield in the Region Semifinals and came away with a 3-2 victory. Allie Walker, Hannah Lee, and Anna Claire Patel scored goals while goalie Katie Chesser recorded 6 saves during the game.

McKENZIE (October 21) — McKenzie Rebels are 9-0 on the season after its 49-0 defeat of the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Tigers at Rebel Stadium last Friday. It was the Rebels last home game in the regular season and the seniors were honored during pre-game ceremonies.

McKENZIE — The McKenzie Middle School Lady Rebels and Rebels got their basketball season underway on Tuesday, October 18, winning both games against Dresden Middle School. The Lady Rebels wasted no time building a commanding lead over the Lady Lions in the first period leading 13-4 at the end of one period.

McKENZIE (October 7) — McKenzie claimed a 56-0 victory over visiting Gleason on Friday, October 7 and the Rebels moved to 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in the region.

McKenzie’s golf season ended at the Region 7 Tournament at Dyersburg on Monday, September 26. Three Lady Rebels and two Rebels competed in the tournament. They included Charli Weatherford, Payton Ognibene, and Anna Weatherford along with Nolan Renfro and Caleb Burke.

DRESDEN (September 30) — In a much talked about region contest, McKenzie’s Rebels defeated the Dresden Lions 40-7 to take command of the Region 6A lead. Jackson Cassidy and Marquez Taylor both had big nights against the Lions.
