McKENZIE — On July 10, 2022, the Weakley County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Bells Store Rd. and Patterson Road area just outside of McKenzie, Tenn. There had been a report of a person lying on the road. When they arrived, they found Terry Beard, 49, of Milan, Tenn., lying on the side of the road. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was deceased.

HUNTINGDON (July 7) — McKenzie City Attorney Laura Keeton filed a complaint with the Carroll County Election Commission concerning the candidacy of Joshua Wheat Filtz for mayor of the city. The complaint was officially filed on July 7 on behalf of the citizens of McKenzie.

Just a few short years ago, Sadarius Hutcherson was playing high school football and basketball for the Huntingdon Mustangs. He played on the interior line as well as tight end and defensive end. By his senior year, he was considered a 3-star defensive end prospect by 247 Sports and was being noticed by several schools. Sadarius eventually signed with South Carolina in February 2016 where he saw action for three and a half seasons.

McKENZIE (June 29) — A 100-foot tall tree was removed from the downtown Veterans Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 29. The tree was heavily damaged and rotten in much of the top.
