McKENZIE (February 28) — McKenzie High School hosted Collinwood Friday to open the Region 6A Girls Basketball Tournament. The host Lady Rebels were in control from the early minutes and cruised to a 70-55 win to advance to the semifinals.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There is an old adage in sports which states, “It’s hard to beat a good opponent three times in one season.” The fifth seeded Bethel Lady Wildcats proved that to be true as they beat fourth seeded Georgetown 84-58 in the quarterfinals of the Mid-South Conference Saturday afternoon in Bowling Green.

McKENZIE (February 24) — McKenzie High School hosted the championship round of the District 12A Girls Basketball Tournament Monday. A thrilling title game saw the host Lady Rebels fall behind early, then outscore McEwen in each of the final three quarters. Tight defense from McKenzie, coupled with a fearless offensive performance in the paint from freshman phenom Jaycee Stafford that yielded 39 points, kept the game in reach. Despite playing much of the second half without their Miss Basketball finalist Laila Downs-Darden, the Warriorettes held on for a 64-60 win. In the consolation game, the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Lady Tigers led early, but the Houston County Lady Irish bounced back and claimed a 58-47 victory and a third-place district finish.

McKENZIE (February 25) — McKenzie High School hosted the championship round of the District 12A Boys Basketball Tournament Tuesday. The host Rebels cruised to an 89-50 win over the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Tigers in the consolation game, and the McEwen Warriors claimed the championship, 50-47, after a thrilling, back-and-forth title game against the Houston County Fighting Irish.

CLARKSBURG (February 17) — The Clarksburg High School Lady Rockets hosted West Carroll Monday in the first round of the District 13A Girls Basketball Tournament. Clarksburg had the lead early, but the Lady War Eagles took control and pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 64-44 victory and a spot in the semifinals.

ERIN (February 22) — The McKenzie Rebels traveled to Houston County High School Saturday for a District 12A Boys Basketball Tournament semifinal. The game was tied after three quarters, but the Fighting Irish pulled away in the fourth for a 65-51 win and a spot in the championship game. The Rebels will play in the consolation game.

ATWOOD (February 13) — West Carroll High School celebrated Homecoming Thursday and hosted Bradford for a pair of district basketball contests. The Lady War Eagles kept the game in reach but fell to the Lady Red Devils, 52-41. The Red Devils pulled away early for a 53-28 win.

McKENZIE (February 10) — McKenzie High School hosted Camden Monday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Rebels shook off a slow start and pulled off a thrilling comeback to win 44-43. A similar rally by the Rebels came up just short in a 59-58 loss.
